kamen rider
Kamen Rider (Kamen Raida 仮面ライダー?, Masked Rider) is a weekly science fiction story created by Japanese manga artist Shotaro Ishinomori. It debuted as a tokusatsu television series on April 3, 1971 and lasted until February 10, 1973, issued in the Mainichi Broadcasting System and NET TV (now TV Asahi). A manga adaptation was also featured in the magazine Shōnen at the same time. The series has led to many sequels and became a franchise. The cultural impact of the series in Japan resulted in Akimasa Nakamura naming two minor planets in honor of the series: 12408 Fujioka, after Hiroshi Fujioka actor, known for his portrayal of Takeshi Hongo / Kamen Rider and Kamenrider 12796, after series itself.

Kamen Riders History

The story took place in a world plagued by scandal, a mysterious terrorist organization. To promote their plans for world domination, Shocker recruited its agents through kidnapping, turning its victims into mutant cyborgs and, ultimately brainwashing them. However, one of the victims named Takeshi Hongo escaped just before the final brainwashing. With his sanity and moral conscience intact, Hongo Shocker henchmen fought like grasshoppers altered human subjects (Kaizo Ningen 改造 人间?) Superhero Kamen Rider. Another victim of the scandal, freelance photographer Hayato Ichimonji also had cyborg implants, but was saved by Kamen Rider in the process of brainwashing to become Kamen Rider # 2. With the assistance of motorcycle race team manager and Tachibana Tobei FBI agent Kazuya Taki, the Kamen Riders fought both on solo missions and has been associated both against Shocker and its successor organization Gel-Shocker.

Kamen Riders manga

Many manga based on the original Kamen Rider series have been published, but only a few were the following written and drawn by himself Ishinomori:
1971: Kamen Rider
1971: Kamen Rider - a new version
1979: Kamen Rider (storyboard)
The original manga published in 1971 broke away from the plot of the television series in several ways. In the manga, Hongo was outnumbered twelve Shocker Riders (as opposed to six in the television series) and was subsequently murdered. Hayato Ichimonji, one of the twelve Shocker Riders, received a head wound during the fight and regained his consciousness as a result. Then he turned against Shocker and succeeded Hongo's role as Kamen Rider. However, Hongo was resurrected at the end of the story of the manga.
